Growing Great
Young People
Established in 1954, Maeroa Intermediate has a proud legacy of providing quality education for Year 7 and 8 students. Today, we have a roll of around 700 students and are well-resourced to support learning and engagement.
Our facilities include a modern library, auditorium, gymnasium, swimming pool, and dedicated Technology and Arts spaces. Our gully restoration project, part of our status as an Enviro School, allows students to contribute to environmental sustainability through active planting and conservation work.
At Maeroa Intermediate, we are proud to be a school that understands and responds to the unique needs of emerging adolescents. Our aim is clear: to grow great young people by providing a rich, inclusive learning environment and working in genuine partnership with whaanau. We prepare our students to become confident, resilient, and contributing community members.
Strong Bonds &
Rich Culture
Maeroa Intermediate reflects the rich cultural diversity of our wider community. While we are predominantly a bicultural school, we are proud of the contributions of our Pasifika, Asian, Indian, and other cultural groups, which add to the vibrancy and richness of our kura.
At Maeroa, our teachers genuinely care about every student. They understand that strong academic progress and success are not only important for learning but also for building positive relationships and helping students feel like they truly belong at school. By supporting both achievement and well-being, our teachers create an environment where every learner can thrive.
Students at Maeroa have countless opportunities to participate and shine in academic, sporting, cultural, and leadership activities, and we encourage every child to step forward, try new things, and get involved.

Opportunities
for Personal Growth
At Maeroa, we have high expectations for learning and behaviour. Our school values—Manaakitanga, Manawanui and Whakamiha—are reflected in everything we do. Our vision, “I will not cease from mental fight,” encourages our students to develop the determination and mindset needed to thrive in a complex and changing world.
Our school-wide intervention programmes in literacy and mathematics ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed. We are committed to structured, research-informed teaching approaches that make a real difference to student outcomes.
We are active participants in the Waikato Intermediate Schools’ sporting and cultural competitions, and regularly compete at regional and national events such as the AIMS Games and Sports Camp. Our students compete with pride, skill, and outstanding sportspersonship.
We invite you to join our Maeroa community, where every child is known, valued, and supported to grow into the best version of themselves.
